What effect do pastels have in a room? These soft colors are generally soothing, since they have a near neutral appearance. The washed out or milky look is often preferred in nurseries, but can be used in many areas. Soft pastel colors can be found again in the window shade product lines, mainly in the cellular shades and roller shades.
There used to be a time when pastels were only used in kids rooms. Baby blue and baby pink were the only colors with thought of regarding interior decor. But today pastels have come back in a big way. With soft colors one can create a country cottage look, great for sitting areas or bedrooms. In order to break up the softness of pastels, one could use them for linens and pillows and bring out a masculine touch by using wood blinds or utilizing darker colors in contrast. We have seen quite a trend in kitchen decor where pastels work wonderfully. Also, let’s not forget beside the obvious colors of pink, blue, green ect. Grey and tan colors are neutral colors that are sophisticated and will work with just about any decor.
